About the role
An exciting administration opportunity exists for a varied and interesting role suited to a flexible person to work on a casual basis. Hours and days will be varied depending on the area. Week days are often 0800-1600, evenings are 1415-2000 and weekends range between the hours of 0800-2000

In consultation with the Administration Manager or Supervisor, the Patient Administration Officer is responsible for meeting the customer service and administrative needs of the department and ensuring an efficient and friendly service is provided to patients and the hospital.

We require someone who can multi-task effectively in a challenging and busy environment. You need to be able to work autonomously and as part of a team whilst communicating effectively to ensure the work flow of the department is met. Main duties include, but are not limited to: reception, receipting payments, admissions, discharges, private health insurance checks, booking and updating patient records, and general clerical duties as well as possibility of ward clerk support.

A high standard of customer service is expected at all times incorporating Calvary’s Mission and Values; Hospitality, Healing, Stewardship and Respect. The successful applicant will be expected to work across both St Vincent’s and St Luke’s hospital sites.

 
Your main duties will include:

  • Provide general clerical support to reception, booking, finance, debtors, billing and estimation teams
  • Data entry
  • Provide general assistance to patients and visitors

About you

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • High level of proficiency in PC applications with accurate keyboard skills
  • High degree of initiative and self-motivation in working autonomously and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated time management and prioritisation skills
  • An understanding of commitment to patient confidentiality
