A fantastic opportunity for an AHPRA Registered Nurse to transition to Acute Care in a collaborative and supportive environment. This opportunity provides the ability to work within multiple specialities throughout the facility, as you transition from novice to experienced clinician. Each successful applicant will be allocated a designated preceptor to support the clinician throughout the program and beyond.

  • About you

    The Transition to Acute Care Rotation Program has been developed to support Early Career Nurses to develop the skills and attributes required to work and thrive in an Acute Care Hospital. The program has been developed to offer Early Career Nurses the opportunity to rotate through various departments and specialty units over a 12 month period whilst being supported by a designated Clinical Nurse Educator. The program has been designed to assist the Registered Nurse during the transition phase from generalist nurse or new graduate to specialist Acute Care Nurse.

    The program will be conducted over a 12 month period with 3 rotations across the facility. The program will include designated study days and utilises a preceptorship model to ensure participants are supported.

    The rotation program will provide the opportunity to work and build capability in a range of specialties across the hospital. These specialties may include:

  • Oncology & Haematology
  • General Medicine
  • Palliative Care &
  • General Surgery
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive and accurate nursing assessment of patients.

  • Identify and implement discharge-planning requirements.

  • Plan appropriate care in consultation with patient and multidisciplinary team.

  • Function within a multidisciplinary team and provide assistance when and where required to meet the needs of the Department / Ward
  • Support and inform patients and their families to ensure any direct impact on patients and their families is understood. This will enable patients to make informed decisions.
  • What you bring  

  • COVID-19 vaccination is a mandatory requirement unless assessed exempt Registered Nurse with current Authority to Practice with AHPRA

  • Demonstrated desire to pursue a career in Acute Care Nursing

  • Demonstrated experience in General Nursing as an EN, RN or AIN

  • Demonstrated commitment to own personal and professional development

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
