Job Description

What’s on offer:

  • Permanent part-time position (12 hours per week)
  • Cook shifts-Week 1-7:00am to 3:00pm Friday and Saturday. Week 2-7:00am to 3:00pm Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Kitchenhand shifts also available from 07:30am to 10:30am and 3:30pm to 7:00pm Week 1-Thursdays & Week 2-Thursdays & Fridays.
  • We are currently looking for a suitably experienced Cook/Kitchenhand to work at Juniper’s Bethshan aged-care facility, located in Katanning.

    The purpose of this role is to prepare and cook high quality, nutritious meals to meet our residents’ special dietary requirements and work as a Kitchenhand when required. As a Cook you will be responsible for supervising a team of catering staff, making sure that the quality of meals is maintained at a high standard. As a Kitchenhand you will provide assistance in the kitchen, preparing food, assisting with meal services and keeping the kitchen area clean and compliant with food safety requirements.

    Key Responsibilities of this role:. 

  • Preparing and cooking high quality, nourishing meals for our residents
  • Monitoring all practices within the catering centre to ensure safe food handling and infection control procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensure all areas of the kitchen are cleaned to the highest standards
  • Stock control management, replenishing and ordering stock as required
  • Compliancy with Juniper’s Occupational, Safety and Health requirements
  • Provide supervision and direction to kitchenhands.
  • Provide kitchen hand services at our facility that include; preparation of food, modifying food texture, apportioning food accurately and serving food to residents
  • Cleaning of cooking areas and equipment to a high standard
  • The Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Trade certification or experience in a commercial cooking environment (essential)
  • Basic knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged is preferred
  • Ability to manage bulk ordering, purchasing, and stock control of food
  • Competent in using Microsoft Office
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Empathy for elderly residents
