Employment arrangement:  Part Time – 21.75 hours per week

Option to work under a 19-day month arrangement

Join the City of Sydney’s busy Marketing and Communications unit in a part time role. 

The City’s Digital Content Specialists work as a dynamic team to deliver a high volume of content for the City’s digital channels. The day-to-day of this role may include: producing and posting social media content, photography and videography, interviewing people and writing articles and providing advice to internal stakeholders. 

We’re looking for a strong writer with basic photography and videography skills. The right candidate is someone who is confident on social media, with the technical skills to create content for number of channels in a variety of formats. You’re up to date on the latest trends across social media platforms. You’ll have experience creating short-form video content such as Instagram Reels or Tik Toks with a fast turnaround.

Your content will appear on the City’s online platforms as well as in social media and digital advertising. Your work will cover a broad range of topics, from core council services to events.

To be successful in this role you will have: 

  • Tertiary qualifications at degree level in communications, PR, marketing or a related field and/or considerable experience in producing digital content in a busy, time pressured environment for a complex organisation
  • Ability to produce and develop high quality, effective online content to support a multi-facetted content communications strategy
  • Knowledge of contemporary trends, emerging technologies and best practice in digital content communications
  • Experience using current social media platforms and social media management tools in a corporate communications environment, a demonstrated capacity to keep pace with knowledge about this rapidly evolving area, and adapting work practices accordingly and sharing these insights within an organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and working within project teams for the collaborative development of digital campaigns from initial brief to delivery, within agreed timelines and budgets
