Laboratory Technician – Brisbane
About the Position
An opportunity exists for a Laboratory Technician on a full time basis to provide technical and logistical support and assistance to geological personnel carrying out laboratory based geological, gas desorption analysis and other related tasks.

Position duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Assist with mobilisation to and from site
  • Process geological samples
  • Measure gas content using in house techniques
  • Collection of gas composition samples
  • Enter gas content and gas composition sample information
  • Assist with transfer of samples and data from field operations to base operations
  • Assist with base operations such as gas content measurement, gas composition sampling, post desorption processing (void space measurement, milling, core slabbing, sample dispatch)
  • Maintain strict confidentiality in respect to all projects and
    operations
  • Assist with other project related tasks as directed from time to
    time
  • Be prepared to work the hours/shifts required by individual projects and to accept possible disruption to social activities
  • Projects may require occasional weekend work or work through public holidays
  • General Housekeeping and maintenance of company vehicles and work stations
  • Any other tasks related to a project or day to day business as directed from time to time by clients or management

Skills/Qualifications

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment but also able to work independently to finish tasks and projects
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, with a proactive attitude
  • Well-developed interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to take ownership of assigned duties
  • Sound computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel & Outlook) & Internet explorer
  • Valid drivers’ license

About you To be considered for this fantastic opportunity you will be of an outgoing nature, enthusiastic, autonomous, goal orientated and possess strong attention to detail.  You will have excellent verbal and written communication and problem solving skills.  Previous experience and/or knowledge and experience of the Gas sector, science studies or geological experience would be seen as a strong advantage.

Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.  A competitive remuneration package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, commensurate with qualifications, skills and experience.
