The Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley  is an extraordinarily beautiful and sparsely populated area in the northeast corner of Western Australia (WA), and is known as one of the world’s last wilderness frontiers. As a global tourism attraction, it is also known for its pristine kaleidoscope of colour, outback adventures, world class fishing, luxury accommodation, great food and friendly locals, and is an amazing and very unique part of Australia. Wyndham is a small settlement on the East Kimberley coastline. It is a very beautiful spot where locals love the remoteness, the fishing and mud crabbing.

About the position:

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley in the role of the Wyndham Pool Coordinator. This role plays an integral part in the services that the Shire provides to the Wyndham Community and is key to promoting safe participation in aquatic activity at the Wyndham Swimming Pool. You will implement and deliver community based aquatic programs such as Learn to Swim, Swim for Fruit, Junior Lifeguard and a range of other health promotion programs. You will also ensure the Wyndham Pool facility is compliant with relevant legislation and manage the operations and maintenance of plant rooms, buildings and equipment.

This is a fulltime role with a remuneration package (not including penalties) ranging between $102,226.33 $107,274.13 (depending on experience) per annum. You will also be provided with housing in Wyndham.

For this position we are seeking an individual who has experience in working autonomously as well as being part of a team and is able to positively engage with people from diverse cultures, nationalities and backgrounds. Required Skills and Experience:

  • Operational experience with swimming pool plant rooms and chlorine gas systems;
  • Proven skills in aquatic program planning and delivery;
  • High level knowledge and experience in the management and the operation of aquatic recreation facilities and services;
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision;
  • Excellent verbal communication skills that result in effective and appropriate communication with a broad range of people internal and external to the Shire;
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to undertake cleaning of grounds, buildings and infrastructure to maintain the high levels expected of the Wyndham Shire Pool;
  • Ability to work over a 7-day rotating roster, including split shifts.

    The Shire currently has subsidised housing available with this position valued at $15,000 per annum.
