Do you have expertise in product design and developing abstract ideas into solutions? Then we want to hear from you!

Due to an internal move, we are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our WA Operations Workshop team. Reporting to the WAO Workshop Manager, you will have functional leadership accountability for the implementation and ongoing development of product reliability improvement, quality improvement and cost reduction of WAO Workshop products including valves, pumps, gear boxes and fabricated items.

We want you to provide input to the maintenance WAO Workshops machine replacement strategy and other fixed assets through hands on coaching, and support. This is a key leadership role supporting other Workshop personnel such as Planners and Supervisors and providing counsel to the Operating Areas on improvement opportunities.

What are some of the core responsibilities?

  • Ensuring disciplined execution of Manufacturing and Reliability Processes, and applying tools and techniques to identify and progress initiatives,

  • Provide expertise and guidance on quality standards, re-use specifications and manufacturing methodologies that improve product life and performance,

  • Identifies and develops new manufacturing technologies, and opportunities for material specification upgrades with our Centre of Excellence (COE) resources,

  • Leads drafting resources to ensure drawing updates are made to support changes requested by both the field and improvements made by the WAO Workshop,

  • Contributes to the development of EH&S practices setting the direction for other Engineers, and consulting and advising role in the area of Regulatory Changes and Compliance requirements.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Mechanical or Metallurgical highly desirable

  • Experienced in product design, understanding machines and developing effective solutions to meet the needs of the business

  • In depth experience in an engineering role within a manufacturing or engineering environment,

  • Demonstrated and significant experience leading, coaching and mentoring others in a professional capacity,

  • Facilitative approach to problem-solving activities and leadership in the implementation of change and innovation,

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills within multi-disciplinary technical teams!
