About the role

A hands-on role with an exceptional understanding of hotel maintenance operations including record keeping, reporting, emergency procedures, OH&S, preventative maintenance programs and cost control.

An understanding of hotel utilities, and maintenance for all hotel machinery, plant, equipment, fittings, and fixtures and actively engaging in repairs and maintenance tasks.

As our next Maintenance Manager, you will:

Be responsible for motivating and inspiring a small team of Maintenance Handypersons to ensure that our property functions like a well-oiled machine

Communicate effectively at all levels, from the General Manager to guests and contractors working onsite
Be required to always keep a level head in a variety of situations in front of both guests and fellow team members
Work closely with all other departments including Housekeeping and Front Office to manage the issues at hand

What we are looking for:

  • A strong leader with previous maintenance experience to take ownership of the maintenance department
  • Previous experience in a supervisor or team leader role is essential
  • Demonstrated high level of competence and technical experience in general hotel property maintenance and repairs (including electrical, plumbing installations, building and pool maintenance)
  • Comprehensive understanding of basic Occupational Health & Safety principles and chemical handling
  • Strong decision making, oral and written communication skills
  • Initiative skills to preserve and prevent future faults
  • The ability to communicate at all levels and work effectively in a team environment, train and develop team members
  • Communicating and overseeing with contractors for hotel maintenance tasks if and when needed
  • To build and maintain strong relationships and be an ambassador for the hotel within the local community
  • Availability to carry our emergency maintenance work outside of normal working hours, in the event of a full power failure, evacuation fire system re-set and/or failure of mechanical systems
  • Knowledge and awareness of sustainability and energy saving practices.
  • Results orientated, with strong time management and organisational skills and the ability to multi-task and use initiative
  • Ability to work a flexible roster, including weekends and school and public holiday periods
  • Ability to maintain accurate filing of all maintenance and service records and preparation of monthly reports
  • Trade qualification desirable
