Research & Insights Lead
12 Month Contract 
$1000pd + super 

The Research & Insights Lead is responsible for delivering expert research advice and guidance to internal stakeholders to ensure research projects incorporate evidence-based design practices and research outcomes inform quality policy, planning and decision making within client programs.

Key accountabilities

  • Deliver expert research advice and guidance to internal stakeholders and support the delivery of school based staff research projects to ensure research design practices are evidence-based and outcomes inform quality policy planning and decision making.
  • Develop a range of research strategies and tools tailored to each specific project. EG: surveys, interviews, focus groups, online community engagement research panels and other relevant approaches to deliver evidence-based research insights that support quality decision making.
  • Provide advice to internal stakeholders in scoping and planning research, engaging with schools and evaluation projects, advising on the most appropriate methodological approaches and ensuring realistic data collection tools are used within and comprehensive analysis is provided.
  • Analyse data and information using a variety of techniques and present the analyses in various formats for use in reports and other publications to communicate emerging themes, develop evidence-based options and recommend solutions.
  • Lead the presentation and communication of research and data and provide research advice and guidance to key stakeholders to ensure research outcomes are understood and accurately interpreted.
  • Foster sustainable partnerships with internal and external stakeholders through the provision of information and advice to gain support and commitment to research projects.
  • Mentor, guide and support research staff ensuring best practice and innovative approaches that leverage emerging research tools and processes to successfully deliver initiatives and quality outcomes.
  • Provide advice, guidance and information to the Manager on emerging issues and present recommendations to manage risk in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes and Directorate priorities.

Key challenges

  • Managing stakeholder expectations effectively and providing accurate and timely analysis across multiple projects with competing timeframes and priorities to ensure evidence-based decision-making, advice and recommendations.
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of current and emerging educational research trends to ensure that the analytical work supporting the development of the Directorate’s proposals, projects and publications is based on contemporary national and international best practice.
  • Leveraging extensive corporate knowledge of department business, systems and processes to influence positive change and actively seek and identify new opportunities to grow and develop businesses capability.

Essential requirements

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, psychology, commerce or equivalent and/or demonstrated equivalent experience in a research role.
