Your new role

The successful candidate will contribute to industry-funded applied research, in the field of Electromagnetics and Electronics Engineering. A significant proportion of the work involved in this role is sponsored by the Australian Department of Defence.   Due to target timeframes, CIRA is aiming to engage a suitable candidate as soon as possible.

As one half of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR), CIRA has a strong track record in research translation and impact (T&I) and is committed to engaging with partners to share our skills, knowledge, and expertise for mutual benefit. This role will contribute to ICRAR-Curtin’s T&I program by leveraging more than a decade of expertise in radio frequency (RF) and microwave metrology and simulation, developed on radio astronomy instrumentation expertise.

The role will primarily involve working as a researcher both individually, and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary research team, to contribute to the preparation of research reports in fulfilment of research contract deliverables, participate in the development of proposals for further funding and develop research prototypes to support future research. In addition, the incumbent is expected to communicate their findings to our industry and other research partners, as well as in conference presentations and in journal publications.  Due to the defence-related nature of this research, the applicant will be advised and shall comply with applicable work procedures as per Curtin’s policy.

The position will be based at Curtin University (Bentley campus), within the School of Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences (EECMS). The position will also involve liaising with other personnel in CIRA such as the Engineering Operations and Translation and Impact teams, research students and interns on a day-to-day basis. The position will also contribute their research expertise on multi-disciplinary projects with researchers from other areas of CIRA, EECMS, Curtin University and ICRAR.

Previous experience in semiconductor theory and modelling, integrated circuit design and fabrication, radio frequency and microwave instrumentation are highly desirable.  A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable (but not required) for appointment as a Research Associate (Academic Level A, ALA) and essential for appointment as a Research Fellow (ALB).

If you have any queries in relation to the requirements of the role please contact Senior Lecturer, Dr Adrian Sutinjo at [email protected].

Alternatively, call the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy and the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research Phone: (+61) 08 9266 4669.
