About the Role:

This research position will develop evolutionary algorithms-based approaches for solving large-scale optimisation problems. The successful applicant will pursue algorithm design, and experimentation and testing using benchmark and practical problems.

Role: Research Associate in Large-scale Evolutionary Optimisation
Salary: Academic Level A $100,318 – $107,299 plus 17% Superannuation        
Term: Full time (1.00 FTE), Fixed Term appointment for up to 1 year

Our Ideal Candidate:

To be successful in this role you will:      

  • Hold a Ph.D. degree (or near completion) or equivalent in Computer Science or a closely related discipline;
  • Experience in evolutionary computation and optimisation and their integration;
  • A demonstrated ability to design and development of evolutionary algorithms for solving optimisation problems;
  • A record of papers in high quality journals and/or conferences of high ranking in the field;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills appropriate for interacting effectively team members, collaborators and colleagues;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team showing initiative and taking direction as appropriate to the situation.

Eligibility: 

The successful candidate will be required to undertake pre-employment checks prior to commencement in this role. The checks that will be undertaken are listed in the Position Description. The successful candidate will be required to work from the UNSW Canberra campus. To be successful you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. UNSW is unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position.
