  • $80,265 pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) – Level 4 of the MBRC EBA4 Certified Agreement

  • About our opportunity

    We have a new and exciting opportunity for an Operations Officer to join our fun and energetic team at the Morayfield Sports and Events Centre (MSEC)!

    MSEC is a dynamic and busy multi-purpose venue, comprising of five indoor timber sprung courts, a large indoor event space, meeting rooms and an onsite cafe that can be hired to facilitate and cater events and activities for over 3000 people, 7 days a week.

    As Operations Officer, your main responsibility will be the coordination of bookings and events at MSEC – resulting in a variety of exciting and bustling duties. These will include:

  • the preparation and delivery of a diverse range of events and bookings across a 7-day week
  • providing and presenting appropriate venue facilities
  • oversee the management of facility bookings
  • act as the point of contact for all venue related matters
  • providing sound advice and effective problem solving
  • assisting with the development and delivery of the venue’s operational plan and capital budget
  • reporting on the venue’s finance, operations and performance
  • undertaking administrative duties and financial processing
  • identifying and implementing opportunities for venue and event improvement
  • You will also foster an environment of trust, innovation and teamwork and build many relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to promote, welcome and sustain business at the venue.

    This position requires the successful applicant to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours.

    About you

    We are seeking an influential and motivated leader who can naturally build and maintain positive and productive relationships. We will leverage your experience in a venue and/or events management role and your strong operational and administrative background to successfully deliver our events and facilities. As a must, you will also demonstrate and possess:

  • time management and organisational skills to facilitate a well presented and efficient venue
  • an ability and willingness to operate in a fast-paced environment and coordinate and deliver events with professionalism, enthusiasm and exceptional customer service
  • a strong attention to detail and passion for delivering events and exceptional customer service
  • experience and insight into reporting on venue and event performance, finance and operations
  • a commitment to quality customer service, teamwork, safety and Council values
  • You will also be comfortable with the physical demands of the role working across a 7-day week and occasionally, the requirement to be on call and completing overtime.

    It is desirable that you also have a working knowledge of the sport and events industry, as well as knowledge of MBRC processes. The following certifications may also need to be obtained within 3 months:

  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • Qld RSA – Responsible Service of Alcohol certification
  • Qld RMLV and Approved Manager of a Licenced Venue
  • First Aid & CPR
