    Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP)

    The Assisted School Travel Program (ASTP) plays a significant role in meeting the needs of eligible students with disability by providing free specialised transport to and from school where parents and carers are unable to provide or arrange transport to the student either fully or in part. The program provides around 3,000 individual transport services through contracted service providers, free of charge to approximately 11,800 students across NSW in both government and non-government schools.

    About the role

    The Administration and Program Support Officer provides a broad range of high quality executive and administrative support to the ASTP Director and executive team to ensure the delivery of key priorities and business operations within the Assisted School Travel Program. This includes the coordination of program initiatives with major stakeholders both internal and external to the Department.

    We are seeking someone who has high organisational skills coupled with strong communication skills and has the ability to manage competing priorities in a high volume, fast paced environment.

    Your primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to;

  • Provide high quality executive and administrative support for the Office of the Director to ensure the achievement of business unit, directorate, and divisional objectives.
  • Undertake effective research processes to enable the gathering, collation, and provision of contextual information for the executive to support informed decision making and planning.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of formal executive correspondence requirements at all levels including to the Department’s senior leadership and the Minister’s Office which may include prompt turnaround, strong record keeping skills, database management and proficiency in other departmental system technologies.
  • Provide support and feedback to the ASTP executive team in the delivery of key ASTP strategic objectives including quality customer service to external and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of quality professional learning activities to meet the needs of a diverse team.
  • Coordinate accurate recruitment, finance and procurement processing to ensure timely management of business operations.
  • Contribute to the development of an organisational culture which encourages and supports innovation, customer responsiveness, flexibility and empowerment of staff, to enable the Department to meet its current and future strategic objectives.
