Western Australia Police Force Complaint Administration Officer Position Number:  205044 Level/Salary:  Level 3, $76,026 – $81,847 (PSCSAA 2022) Work Type:  Permanent – Full Time Branch:  Police Conduct Investigation Unit Location:  Perth Closing Date:  2023-03-29 4:00 PM

POSITION OBJECTIVE

This position assesses each complaint and records all pertinent information onto the Police Complaints Administration database. Performs administrative, governance, process and recording functions concerning the application of the Western Australia (WA) Police Force complaints and internal investigation processes. Liaises with the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) and the ombudsman WA, including issuing new complaint notifications, providing status updates and advising of complaint outcomes.

SPECIALIST PRE-REQUISITE

It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold and maintain the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL 1 security clearance. Any applicants who are currently not an Australian Citizen must be aware that this is an essential requirement to fulfil this position (please refer to the attached position description). Whilst there is nothing to preclude applicants from applying for the position if they have not yet been granted Australian Citizenship, applicants who are successful should be aware that they cannot be appointed unless they are in the process of applying for Australian Citizenship and are eligible to receive a waiver.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills – Comparing and contrasting sensitive and confidential information, sourcing, compiling and analysing information and data.
  • Research skills – Researching and collating information from multiple databases for investigation files. Liaising with the CCC including researching and sharing of Body Worn Camera footage and other sensitive material.
  • Applicants are also required to submit a comprehensive Curriculum Vitae (CV). Your CV should provide enough detail (dot points are sufficient) to allow the selection panel to assess your skills and experience relevant to the Key Accountabilities of the attached Position Description Form.

    The CV must also include the names and contact details of two (2) referees who can comment on the applicant’s ability to satisfy all of the Essential Work Related Requirements. Applicants should nominate at least one immediate (most contemporary) supervisor/manager unless exceptional circumstances exist.

    Please note: For applicants deemed suitable, all Essential Work Related Requirements listed in the Position Description Form will be assessed at some stage during the selection process.

    OTHER CONDITIONS

    Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies throughout the metropolitan area. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position, then the panel may select another suitable applicant from this selection process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from the initial date of the appointment.

    Integrity and criminal checks will be conducted if the recommended applicant for a position is not a current WA Police Force employee. Any relocation costs associated with appointment to these positions may be the responsibility of the successful applicants.
