Job Description

At Advanced Mining Production Systems (AMPS), we specialise in open cut and underground mining technical services and optimisation. With over 20 years of combined expertise, we possess the knowledge and skills to provide technical solutions to mining operations across the world. 
As a geologist at AMPS, you will be instrumental in supporting our existing geology department, as well as assisting with the development and optimisation of client geology teams, both nationally and internationally.

Reporting to the Geology Consulting Manager, you will be responsible for providing geological support to clients by coordinating the collection, analysis and interpretation of geological data. 

Roles and Responsibilities 
The scope of the role varies, but key functions include;
•    Underground development face mapping and sampling
•    Wall and backs mapping and sampling
•    Geological logging, sampling and processing
•    Interpretation of grade control and drilling data
•    Formulation of work quality requirements and documentation
•    Working collaboratively with AMPS team members, onsite technical service teams and all other relevant team members
•    Supporting and assisting with the development of continuous improvement initiatives and;
•    Facilitating the daily functioning of the geology department

Selection Criteria
Qualifications and Experience
•    Tertiary qualification in Geology, honours viewed favorably
•    2+ years’ experience in an underground operation, preferably base metals or gold
•    Experience using 3D modelling software
•    Experience in underground development face mapping and sampling
•    Geological and grade control logging experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
•    Solid understanding of Mining Geology
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•    Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•    Ability to work safely and with minimal supervision
•    Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol test
