Norwest Private Hospital Medical Ward is currently looking for a passionate, dynamic and innovative Clinical Nurse Educator to lead coordination, delivery and facilitation of education programs to ensure staff have the capability to provide exceptional nursing care on a part-time basis.

As a Clinical Nurse Educator you will demonstrate leadership and role modelling, delivering education in both formal and informal settings, continuously striving to elevate the standard of care in our unit.

You will be responsible for planning in-services based on the needs of the unit and hospital wide requirements; supporting new staff and students; competency development and assessment; supporting e-learning and Mandatory Training for Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses, New Graduate Nurses and students on the wards.

Norwest Private Hospital is located in the rapidly developing North West corridor of Sydney and is operated by Healthscope, a leading provider of private healthcare in Australia. The hospital has 277 beds and is a high acuity facility with an Emergency Department located in Sydney’s Bella Vista.

The Clinical Nurse Educators role in collaboration with the NUM and Clinical Development Coordinator will provide all staff on the floor with educational support and supervision.

As a Clinical Nurse Educator your responsibilities will include:

  • Identify educational needs by partnering with the Medical Ward Nurse Unit Manager and Education Team to determine team and individual learning needs.
  • Lead and foster a learning environment by designing, developing and facilitating education packages, providing team and individual coaching and coordinating subject matter experts (external and internal) to deliver training.
  • Orientate new staff members and upskill novice staff members.
  • Engage senior staff members in the delivery of education in the ward
  • Demonstrate professional practice as evidence by adhering to AHPRA professional standards, code of ethics and conduct, legislative requirements, Healthscope’s polices and processes, required registration, scope of practice, and patient confidentiality and privacy.
  • Prioritise Healthscope’s patient safety and quality frameworks by identifying areas of improvement, participating in case reviews and clinical audits as required.
  • Acts as a valued member of the inter-disciplinary team to provide exceptional patient care and quality education by providing supervision and teaching to staff, and actively contributing to team processes and practices.
  • Maintains a professional and constructive working relationships with our VMO partners, using a customer service mindset, to enable high quality patient outcomes.

Essential Criteria:

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse;
  • More than 5 years clinical expertise in acute medical nursing
  • Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
  • Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to teach and preceptor staff;
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal communication skills within a multidisciplinary team
  • Proven and consistent commitment to clinical nursing and performance at a higher clinical level
  • Certificate IV, Workplace Assessment & training, TAE (or working towards)

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous Clinical Nurse Educator experience
  • Post Graduate Certificate in acute medical nursing, or cardiology nursing
