School of Human Sciences

  • Research and teaching role focusing on environmental influences on pregnancy and early child health
  • Level B, part-time appointment (0.8 FTE) on a fixed term basis for 3 years
  • Base salary range: $105,043.00 – $124,301.00 p.a. (pro rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team

The School of Human Sciences is a large multidisciplinary school with research and teaching focused on better understanding what it is to be human, from our structure, function, development and genetics, to adaptation, performance and evolution.

The School of Human Sciences was formed in 2017 as an amalgamation of the School of Anatomy, Physiology & Human Biology and the School of Sports Science, Exercise and Health. The School is one of the largest in the University and makes a significant contribution to the BSc majors in Anatomy and Human Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Science and Sports Science. The School also contributes to medical, dental and paramedical education in all tertiary institutions within Western Australia.

About the opportunity

The position involves contributing to research and teaching in the areas of developmental origins of adult disease and human reproductive biology. The incumbent will be part of a dynamic and diverse research team focused on the effects of environmental change on maternal and child health.

The position is associated with the NHMRC Healthy Environments and Lives National Research Network (HEAL); a collaboration of over 30 organisations from across Australia aiming to catalyse research, enable knowledge exchange and translate research into policy and practice.

About you 

You will have a mix of strong research skills and interpersonal skills for this position. You will have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills to enable research collaboration and communication. You will have the capacity to work with a broad range of stakeholders and be proactive in your inclusion of diversity in research and teaching.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • A PhD or equivalent qualifications/work experience in a field relevant to the position.
  • High-level interpersonal skills as well as verbal and written communication skills.
  • Established publication record in esteemed peer-reviewed journals and other relevant outlets.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and experience coordinating research projects.
  • Evidence of tertiary teaching experience and excellence.
