About the Job

If you want to use your existing skillsets while experiencing adventure outside the ordinary, the Army Reserve has an exciting opportunity for you.

As a part-time Chef in the Army Reserve, you’ll work alongside fellow cooks to provide and support the dietary needs of soldiers. You’ll get to apply your skills to create food that sustains the Army’s optimal cognitive and physical human performance, all while adding the challenge of a military experience to your everyday role.

Working in a team environment, you’ll be responsible for the following:

  • Prepare, cook and package complete meals
  • Cook a variety of dishes, such as soups, entrees, mains and desserts
  • Learn the process of bulk cookery
  • Prepare meals in specialised field and commercial kitchens
  • Cook at important functions and VIP events
  • On reserve parade nights, you can expect to refine your culinary skills, test your technical skills and maintain your soldering training.

    In larger training exercising, you’ll be able to aid your team by managing staff, conducting on the job training and logistic planning in support of operational catering both domestically and whilst on operations.
