Laboratory Technician

We are seeking a highly-motivated Laboratory Technician to join our operations team in Sydney, Australia. You will have a keen eye for detail to ensure smooth operations in the laboratory. We expect you to be an integral part of our antibody discovery group, supporting the scientific teams to achieve their objectives at AbCellera. In this multifaceted role you will be involved in sample, reagent management with accountability and compliance. The role will also involve replenishing consumables, buffers, maintaining basic lab equipment ensuring safe practices.

How you might spend your days:

• Overseeing inventories and ordering/distributing supplies while working closely with the purchasing team to make it all happen
• Working closely with scientists ensuring constant supply of laboratory reagents and consumables
• Overseeing the routine maintenance of equipment, including taking responsibility for job callouts and liaising with external service contractors, including repairs, service contracts and preventative maintenance
• Implementing organizational systems and policies to improve laboratory workflow and safety
• Assisting with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) responsibilities, including reviewing risk assessments and safe work procedures as needed, ensuring compliance to safety policies, standards and regulations
• Coordinating and supporting the daily activities in the PC2 laboratories
• Working with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance to all procedures
• Supporting routine cell culture and molecular biology activities, as directed
• Supporting the team whenever spare hands are needed

• You have a bachelor’s degree in science or related discipline with prior experience in a research laboratory
• You are able to work in a self-directed manner, demonstrate initiative, and are willing to work flexible hours
• You have basic knowledge of laboratory products and equipment
