About the Role

Audio News and Current Affairs is seeking a skilled journalist to be part of its national news team, creating content for scheduled radio and On Demand bulletins.

A strong broadcast voice is important. You must have proven experience in live news reading to a high standard of accuracy and proficiency, under tight deadlines.

This role also involves producing breaking stories for news bulletins in a timely way, under tight deadlines. Stories must be highly relevant to Australian news consumers and accessible to listeners with a diversity of lived experience.

Stories must be relevant, timely, accurate, fair, balanced, engaging and accessible. You’ll support the production of stories including writing, setting up, conducting interviews and editing material.

You will also be required to provide senior editorial guidance and subbing of content for the radio news wire.

You must be available to work a variety of penalty shifts, weekends and public holidays.

About You

You’re an experienced audio journalist with strong presentation and content making skills, with sound independent editorial judgement and experience working in a daily and deadline-driven news/current affairs environment.

You’ll also have a strong understanding of national and international news issues and events.

You’re a team player with a willingness to perform a range of tasks over all shifts, including weekends and in a high-pressure environment, dealing with news content that may be distressing.
