  • About the Role
    This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has a passion for the performing arts, and wants to combine their passion with their career in marketing. Joining a brand new team, you will have the opportunity to grow the Performing Arts portfolio, with responsibility for marketing, brand and audience development of the venues. This role offers the chance to influence and drive the portfolio’s marketing from conception to execution.

    Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop the Performing Arts Department (PAD) marketing and content strategy, enhancing student experience, developing venues as a destination and work closely with outside presenters.
  • Create and develop UoM Performing Arts as a brand, ensuring wide recognition of UoM as one of Victoria’s pre-eminent performing arts venues.
  • Create and implement innovative audience development strategies and targeted market segment campaigns with a focus on students, UoM staff and alumni, single tickets, cultural tourism and digital.
  • Oversee the development of PAD digital communications initiatives including website, e-communications and social media.
  • Who we are looking for
    We are looking for people who are knowledgeable and interested in the performing arts. You should be a great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills – a calm temperament with a good sense of humour under pressure is key! You should be excited to join a new team and make your mark.

    You will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in marketing or a relevant discipline
  • Extensive digital and marketing experience, preferably in the arts and entertainment industry
  • Demonstrated experience in developing successful e-communication campaigns and strategy
  • Experience developing social media campaigns, increasing audience engagement
  • Data analysis skills, as well as high level computer literacy in databases, CMS systems and Photoshop

    Your new team – “Performing Arts Department (PAD)”
    The Performing Arts Department is a new portfolio under Strategy and Culture. The University of Melbourne has endorsed a vision to strengthen and position its performing arts activities under the umbrella of the Cultural Commons strategy to enhance student experience and its reputation as a foundational leader in arts and culture locally, nationally and internationally.

    The Performing Arts Department is a newly created department to oversee the management and programming of the recently opened Arts and Culture building housing the Union Theatre (398 seat proscenium arch theatre), Guild Theatre (102 seat ‘black box’ theatre, the repurposed event/performance space Market Hall and the outdoor amphitheatre for up to 1000 people.

    Opened in 2022 the new Arts and Cultural Building is a vibrant cultural hub for students and visitors the heart of the city’s CBD North.
