ABOUT THE ROLE

Managing a small portfolio of clients the Human Resource Advisor is responsible for providing accurate and timely HR advice, support and consultancy services to managers and employees that is consistent with the values and aims of Chisholm’s People Plan, Operational Plans and Strategic Plan. Advice and support covers the employee life cycle from recruitment, appointment, employment obligations, onboarding, probation and through to supporting with transition out activities.

Underpinning the functional areas of focus, responsibility is also taken to understand and support business areas to comply with the requirements of the, Standards set by Vocational training, higher education and secondary school sectors. This includes meeting compliance requirements and ensuring integrity in the HR information system, supporting data led business decision making.

The HR Advisor is required to maintain up to date legislative understanding and ensure the Service Charter Standards are consistently met.

Key Accountabilities include;

  • Participate in the Institute’s process of Workforce Planning (WFP), supporting the identification of workforce challenges, solutions to address.
  • Provide People Culture and Safety generalist support services and coordination of activities related to recruitment, appointment and on-boarding of new staff, variations for existing staff and general information on employment conditions including enterprise agreement conditions.
  • Effectively identify and escalate complex staffing matters, such as complaints, grievances, WorkCover and OHS matters to the relevant specialist areas.
  • Support sustainable accuracy and quality of people data and records in line with regulatory and governance requirements i.e. the Register of Trainers and Assessors.
  • Work closely with the payroll team on staffing issues and assist with rectifying any issues or escalating where appropriate. Identify and pursue opportunities that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of people management practices and outcomes, align governance i.e. PCS policy, procedures forms etc.
  • Support the delivery of relevant people management projects and initiatives to improve Chisholm’s people management practices.
  • Facilitate and support with effective workflow processes for recruitment and on boarding activities, driving great candidate and business experiences
  • With the support of the HR manager Develop and issue employment contracts

ABOUT YOU

You will have qualifications, skills, and experience in:

  • an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education / training in Human Resources. 
  • Demonstrable current experience and capability in providing operational HR advice, support and services to varied clients in a complex environment.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to delivering outcomes in a timely way that meets business needs. 
  • Proven skills in utilising MS Office applications, HR computing systems and maintaining data and records.
  • Capacity to effectively manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Understanding of contemporary and quality HR support and service across the employee life cycle such as recruitment, induction, probation management etc.
  • High level written and verbal communication skills and provide effective advice across the Institute.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders in a business partner model.
  • Adaptable and able to change direction to accommodate shifting requirements and unexpected situations.
