The Position

St John of God Subiaco Hospital is the oldest and biggest hospital in our group, having been established in 1898. With over 550 beds, it is one of Australia’s most respected providers of health care services and an internationally renowned leader in clinical trials and research. SJG Subiaco Hospital is also a leader in innovation and adoption of new technologies, including the implementation of robotic surgical devices and virtual reality imaging technology. Our hospital is located in the heart of Subiaco close to stylish cafes, boutiques and with easy access to the train station .

We are currently seeking a dynamic and committed Senior HR Business Partner (SHRBP) to work alongside hospital based leaders and our centralised centres of excellence in delivering a comprehensive HR service with a continuous improvement focus in a fast paced environment.

Reporting into the HR Manager the SHRBP will have a high level of personal credibility; the ability to build excellent relationships across the organisation and be a team player with passion for providing a professional HR service.

The primary focus areas of this position will be:

  • Be responsible for partnering with specified business units, building strong relationships with key stakeholders within those areas to provide excellent HR expertise;
  • Act as a coach and trusted advisor to leaders empowering them to continuously strengthen their capabilities in delivering people management processes;
  • Provide expert support and advice in relation to employee relations issues, ensuring they are managed proactively;
  • Be an active change agent, focusing on the people side of change, including changes to business processes, job roles and organisation structures providing direct support and coaching to all levels;
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement both within the HR function and with regard to people related processes within the broader organisation; 
  • Play a key role in supporting the local development and training of leaders. Identify training needs and skills gaps and deliver training programs and support performance improvement plans; and
  • Contribute to and take the lead on employee engagement initiatives to enable a positive culture.
  • This position is on a fixed term Full time basis, working 76 hours a fortnight for 12 months.

    The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
  • Tertiary level qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline and/or significant experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrate a strong knowledge of employment legislation, compliance and best practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and support managers in the development of their people management skills to improve motivation and performance within their teams.
  • Demonstrated success at partnering with business leaders to develop HR strategies to achieve sustainable business outcomes.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to articulate the business context of programs.
  • Ability to influence and build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to identify trends and translate into business outcomes.
  • Highly developed time management and organisational skills with ability to meet deadlines.
