The Opportunity

Join the Therapeutic Antibody R&D team as a senior research scientist in preclinical neuroscience with a focus on in vivo pharmacology.

You will plan, execute and interpret innovative experimental work focusing on strategies to support target and indication validation, lead selection, and the preclinical phase of biologics discovery and development.

How You’ll Spend Your Day

 
This is a hands-on laboratory-based role within the biologics discovery team including the following capabilities and responsibilities:

  • Conduct research and development on therapeutic antibody discovery projects. Exercising a high level of technical expertise in target biology (including ion channels & neuropeptides) and antibody functional characterization (particularly in vivo).
  • Drive preclinical in vivo pharmacology for the neuroscience team drawing on experience characterizing animal models of disease and response to intervention (no hands on animal work required).
  • Expertise in phenotypic and functional analysis of cells by image-based methods, flow cytometry, cellular protein phosphorylation assays, calcium flux and other functional assays.
  • Experience with biomarker discovery and analysis.
  • Expertise in data analysis and interpretation, including the ability to make recommendations to key stakeholders through clear and concise oral and written communication.
  • Supervision of staff – assisting in experimental design, managing daily activities, mentoring for career development, measuring performance and providing effective feedback.
  • Mentoring of peers and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
  • Work hand-in-hand with antibody generation teams and manufacturing sciences to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
  • Responsible for oversight of external activities involved in studies at contract research and partner organizations.
  • Ensure Teva Biosafety and EHS policies are implemented and local regulations are met.

Your Experience and Qualifications

 

  • PhD or equivalent with extensive experience (5+ years) in life sciences
  • Neuroscience in vivo pharmacology ( particularly migraine, pain and neurodegenerative diseases) or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous experience in industry-based R&D will be highly regarded
  • An understanding of the drug discovery and development process related to therapeutic antibodies
  • Excellent attention to detail, strong documentation skills, a can-do attitude and an ability to communicate effectively
  • Management and leadership experience
