    The Centre for Education Statistics and Evaluation (CESE) undertakes in-depth analysis of education programs and outcomes across early childhood, school, training and higher education to inform whole-of- government, evidence based decision making. CESE’s three main responsibilities are:

  • to provide data analysis, information and evaluation that improve effectiveness, efficiency and accountability of education programs and strategies.
  • to collect essential education data and provide a one-stop shop for information needs – a single access point to education data that has appropriate safeguards to protect data confidentiality and integrity.
  • to build capacity across the whole education sector so that everyone can make better use of data and evidence.
  • About the role

    The role assists with the reporting and distribution of student statistics from schools and the maintenance of school reference files. You will collaborate with colleagues within the team to undertake a range of project research, analysis, reporting, implementation, and administrative activities to support the delivery of statistical data assets. Stakeholders across the Department will rely on your data provision to inform the evidence base for decision-making.

  • Essential requirements of the role

  • Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Key knowledge and experience

  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s and upholding the and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
  • Experience with SQL is desirable
  • Data literacy skills – ability to read, use, apply and communicate data in context resulting in value; critical thinking of data including common sense check and willingness to dig deeper; and an understanding of data sources and their constructs.
