• Immediate start in a healthcare organisation based in Macquarie University (North Ryde) on a Casual basis.

THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a dynamic and efficient individual to join us our Hotel Services team as a Chef. You will be required to work to job specifications, meet quality standards, can communicate clearly and be versatile in all facets of preparing food and cook for our stakeholders, which include patients, visitors, and staff.

  • Key Accountabilities:

  • Prepare food for patients, visitors, and staff in an appealing, timely and hospitable manner.

  • Relay any needs of patients (including special diets) to the Executive Chef

  • Communicates needs to the Executive Chef to successfully and effectively carry out the role of a Chef.

  • Communicates supplies and/or equipment needs/failures to the Executive Chef

  • Report monthly to the procurement team on activities relating to the efficient management of the Hospital’s stock, inventory, purchasing and suppliers.

  • Adheres to all MQ Health values, policies and procedures as well as legislation affecting food hygiene and cleanliness standards HACCP

  • Ensures all mandatory education and competencies are completed in a timely manner

  • Demonstrates a willingness to work positively within a team to achieve team goals and the provision of excellence in service delivery

  • Participates in and contributes to occupational health and safety activities to ensure a safe work environment for clients, community, staff and visitors

  • Complies with obligations under Work Health and Safety Act 2011, NSW

  • Ensures that all documentation is accurate and completed in a professional and timely manner and in accordance with MQ Health Policy

  • Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance and Continuous Quality Improvement projects.

  • Ensures incidences are reported accurately and in a timely manner

  • Operate with limited guidance and make a significant contribution to the development of strategy as well as its implementation.

  • Maintain good customer relations

  • Address service concerns are addressed in a timely manner

  • Seeks out guidance and support from appropriate individuals/groups as required

  • Performs other duties as directed by the departmental manager.

  • Appropriate trade qualification

  • Demonstrated experience in a hospital cooking setting

  • Experience with a delegate patient ordering system

  • A thorough understanding of the HACCP program and service delivery model

  • Sound knowledge of food hygiene and cleanliness standards

  • Passion for excellence in customer service with a strong eye for detail

  • High degree of reliability and punctuality

  • Impeccable presentation and hygiene 

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Complies with obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011, NSW

  • Flexible shift availabilities, Saturdays and Sundays highly desirable

  • Role Specific Conditions:

  • Immunisation screening

  • Previous experience in a private hospital setting would be highly desirable

  • Criminal History Check
