  • Remuneration: $100,331 – $108,588 (+  17% superannuation and leave loading)

Why Your Role Matters:

The Events and Recruitment Officer within Future Student Recruitment is responsible for designing, coordinating and delivering student recruitment events and activities for students from Gateway Schools to drive achievement of the University’s Gateway Equity Target.

The Gateway Equity Target is the cornerstone of UNSW’s commitment to ensuring a more equitable, diverse and inclusive student community, with a target of 25% of the commencing undergraduate domestic population from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and/or socio-educationally disadvantaged (Gateway) schools by 2027. 

The position will work collaboratively with the team to support the delivery of Future Student Recruitment’s calendar of activities and events throughout the year, including school visits, Experience Days, information evenings, and major on-campus events such as Open/Info Days, with a focus on ensuring a greater presence and representation of students from Gateway schools. As a product, audience and admissions pathways expert, the incumbent will also support Student Ambassador training, collaborate with the Marketing team to share audience insights, manage outbound conversion call campaigns for underrepresented students, and represent the University across recruitment events with external facing audiences.

This position plays a key supporting role in connecting Future Student Recruitment and Access, Equity and Inclusion, ensuring alignment across events and recruitment activities to drive achievement of the Gateway Equity Target.

The Events and Recruitment Officer reports to the Undergraduate Student Recruitment Manager and has a dotted reporting line to the Outreach Manager, Access, Equity & Inclusion.

They are a skilled communicator, able to communicate with a wide range of stakeholders. They are also well organised, being able to mange complex tasks and competing priorities with ease.

• A relevant tertiary qualification with a depth of subsequent relevant industry experience in student recruitment/marketing and event management, gained through any other combination of education, training and experience.

• Demonstrated end to end success designing and delivering events from concept to execution including a demonstrable creative and KPI-driven approach.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and the proven ability to articulate information clearly and succinctly. Demonstrated excellence in the delivery of written event briefs, concept proposals and training.

• Ability to pragmatically problem solve to achieve delivery of business objectives.

• Strong collaboration skills and experience working in a complex matrix organisational environment.

• Excellent relationship management skills, with a demonstrated track record of fostering and maintaining strong and successful internal and external networks, supporting successful outcomes.

• Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail.

• Higher Education experience across local and international markets is highly desirable.

• An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.

• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.

Role requirements

• Current NSW Driver’s License Class C or equivalent.

• The role may require working flexible hours to attend various recruitment events and activities. Also, during operationally critical periods possible annual leave restrictions will apply.
