The School of Medical Sciences are seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher with experience in human pluripotent stem cell biology, including directed differentiation to neural cell types, to join an international team focused on identifying disease mechanisms associated with common gene-mutations associated with Parkinson’s disease. You will be someone who is passionate to find out more about Parkinson’s disease pathogenesis and who can bring additional skills to the project in the area of stem cell biology.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• maintain and work with multiple patient-derived pluripotent stem cell lines

• undertake original research (either independently or as part of a team)

• contributing and coordinating to the research and administration activities of the discipline

• develop research collaborations which will ultimately result in knowledge or technology transfer leading to commercialisation, improved policy or practice and/or enhancements to industry.

About you

• have a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline

• experience the maintenance and directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells

• experience immunocytochemistry and microscopic analysis

• track record of preparation of scientific data, including manuscripts for peer-review

• have expertise in the design and conduct of qualitative and quantitative research

• demonstrates a strong track record of effectively working in multi-disciplinary teams, industry and professional institutions, health partners, and stakeholders

• have excellent managing and communication skills, and with good experience in disseminating research results and supervising Honours or HRD students.
