Based in the north of Sydney, this is a well-known commercial environmental testing laboratory that focuses on scientific testing of soil, air, water and emerging contaminants.

About the role:

Our client is looking for a Senior Chemist who will be responsible for routine testing and troubleshooting/maintenance of instruments as part of the Metals teams. The role is a full-time permanent position with a great salary on offer. This position is suitable for a switched-on experienced Chemist with commercial laboratory experience and highly knowledgeable in terms of instrumentation and chemistry skills.

Responsibilities include:

• Conduct non-routine and complex sample preparation, analysis and reporting
• Conduct routine testing and reporting
• Collate and review results and flag any issues before results are sent to client
• Load instruments and process data following QC guidelines
• Review and interpret paperwork, ensure correct tests are performed
• Check results of junior analysts
• Approve worksheets and authorise NATA endorsed reports

Skills & experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or related
• Extensive experience in environmental testing within a commercial laboratory
• Strong knowledge of ICP-MS & ICP-OES – running, reporting, troubleshooting
• Knowledge of QA/QC requirements within a NATA accredited testing laboratory
• Have a keen and diligent work ethic with good people skills
• Excellent eye for detail and be highly organised
