Food Services Assistant – Central Production Kitchen (Kingston)

(54 hours per fortnight)

Our Journey:

Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, patient support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.

Shifts available 

Week 1 and 3 

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday  6.30am – 3.00pm

Week 2 and 4

Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday  6.30am – 3.00pm

Saturday  6.30am – 1.00pm

(54 hours per fortnight)

A Day in the Life:

The Food Services Assistant is responsible for duties assigned in the preparation, regeneration, plating, delivery and collection of meals throughout the day. Also includes the washing and sanitising of items in kitchen areas and equipment. This role is based at Central Production Kitchen (CPK) at Kingston Centre campus and areas

Responsibilities include; (but not limited to)

  • Assist in the preparation of meals
  • Prepare the patient menu items in accordance with meal production requirements
  • Clean Kitchen and equipment
  • Completing all food safety documentation in a timely manner

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills to provide a personable approach to our patients and visitors at Monash Health.
  • A proactive approach and team player
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete while working alone or as part of a cohesive team.
  • A high standard of demonstrated experience in customer service from a health care or hospitality environment

What You Need:

  • Current Food Handlers Certificate – Level 1
  • Food Handling Certificate (SITXFSA001) – Follow basic food safety practises
  • Comprehensive understanding of diet codes, texture modified foods and fluids, food allergies and intolerances
  • Established knowledge of Monash Health processes and procedures  
  • Ability to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills
  • Current Victorian drivers licence (desirable)
