The Role
The Defence News Bureau, within the Media & Information Disclosure Branch, currently has an APS 6 Administration Officer vacancy.

The role requires a high level of stakeholder engagement. The roles encompass administrative, marketing, procurement and finance tasks.

Working with the EL 1 Administration Manager, the APS 6 Administration Officer works primarily within the News team and is responsible for the production and distribution of the three Service newspapers – Navy News, Army News and Air Force News.

The APS 6 Administration Officer provides administrative, finance, procurement and technical support to the Administration Manager, including backfilling the role when required.

The Defence News Bureau is assigned an expense budget and a revenue budget to achieve each financial year.

The APS 6 Administration Officer is responsible for assisting with the management and procurement of goods and services, and the generation of revenue. Revenue is achieved by selling advertising space within the Service newspapers. Advertising sales are to internal (Defence entities), and external (businesses, service providers, associations and not for profit entities).

The APS 6 Administration Officer is also responsible for the daily general office workplace management, including providing support to the Director, Digital and Social Media managers.

  • Invoicing customers (Accounts Receivable)
  • Procurements
  • Paying Suppliers (Accounts Payable)
  • Office management
  • Digital edition management
  • Bulk email management
  • Advertising sales
  • Advertisement production

About our Team
The Defence News Bureau comprises three teams: Defence News, Defence Digital Media and Defence Social Media. The Directorate produces and disseminates internal and external news product.

The APS 6 Administration Officer works in the News section, which produces the three Service newspapers as print and online versions, and also the external facing Defence News website.

The team sits in the Media and Information Disclosure Branch, which is part of Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication. The Branch is responsible for day-to-day media and communication operations across Defence.
