POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Evaluation and Research Officer delivers and contributes to strategic evaluation and research projects and provides advice and analysis to inform policy and investment decisions and continuous improvement in public sector service delivery.

This position plays a key role in delivering on the Department of Health’s (DH) and Department of Families, Fairness and Housing’s (DFFH) investment in evaluation and research capacity and capability. In doing so, this position significantly contributes to the development of evidence-informed practice and decision-making in the public health and human services sectors.

Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the full life cycle of evaluation and research projects to meet departmental objectives including:
  • – Undertaking research, analysis and implementation of project plans based on defined outcomes and outputs.

    – Developing and managing projects or sub-projects and being accountable for the successful delivery and completion of the projects/sub-projects within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters, and in accordance with relevant legislation and government regulations and guidelines.

    – Monitoring and evaluating projects to ensure departmental objectives are met.

  • Provide authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present, in Plain English, detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions on complex matters, that meet stakeholder needs.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach, this may include representing CERE and/or the departments on key stakeholder committees.
  • Provide authoritative advice, reasoned recommendations and innovative solutions to complex and sensitive issues based on comprehensive research.
  • Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends.
  • Promote increased knowledge and understanding of research and evaluation and the use of evidence to inform stakeholders, policy and practice.
  • Contribute to strategic planning of evaluation and research work, including facilitating stakeholder consultation.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department’s records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department’s occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department’s ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
  • Mandatory Vaccination Policy

As it is an essential element of any role within the department that employees be able to attend work onsite and to do so safely, employees are required to be up-to-date with their vaccinations against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.
