    About Us

    Working within The Centre for Computational and Systems Medicine (CCSM); the area brings scientists and clinicians together in an interdisciplinary environment and builds on the academic strengths of individuals in cutting edge analytical chemistry, data science and data visualisation. Harnessing the capacity of the Australian National Phenome Centre (ANPC) to generate deep phenotypic profiles of biological samples that define the metabolic status of an individual and contribute to the understanding of disease risk and aetiology.

    The Role

    The Officer will use the resources available of the ANPC and CCSM to generate high-fidelity data using high-throughput and robust analytical pipelines that will result in an enhanced understanding of the impact of microbial metabolic signalling on liver cancer. The ANPC is a dedicated facility established for the purpose of performing “industrial-scale” metabolic phenotyping using an array of state-of-the-art analytical instruments.

    On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for:

  • Establishing routine methodologies for the preparation of samples of biological or clinical origin in a PC2 certified laboratory.
  • Acquisition of data from biofluid and tissue samples using pipelines already established for MS, NMRs, immunoassays, molecular biology techniques, robotic liquid handlers, etc.
  • Perform data quality assurance and statistical analysis to assist Bioinformaticians.
  • Participate in research meetings and internal seminars.
  • What you’ll bring to this role

  • Qualifications (Hons or equivalent) in a relevant field.
  • 3+ years’ experience and knowledge in the day-to-day operations of a PC2 or analytical laboratory, with a focus on sample preparation of biospecimens of clinical origins.
  • Experienced in analytical chemistry or molecular biology techniques.
  • Experience with large, high-throughput sample workflows.
