MSPACE is seeking a Product Manager to support the Senior Product Manager and Academic Program Directors in maintaining and expanding the University’s portfolio

About the Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education (MSPACE)
The Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education (MSPACE) works to broaden the University’s educational offerings in an increasingly competitive global environment for talent and skills. MSPACE provides an institutional focal point for the development, delivery and promotion of professional, continuing and executive education programs and services for all academic divisions of the University. MSPACE supports academic divisions to develop and deliver award and non-award education through a range of teaching and learning delivery modes and seeks to broaden opportunities for engagement in a variety of professional sectors. In order to contribute towards these objectives, MSPACE supports and expands the University’s professional, continuing and executive education initiatives through the provision of a coherent, whole-of-University framework.

About the Role

The Product Manager will support the Senior Product Manager within the Melbourne School of Professional and Continuing Education (MSPACE) to strategically maintain and expand the University’s portfolio of post-professional courses (products).. Working with the Market Research and Insights Manager, and Marketing and Communication teams, the Product Manager will guide new products through the development lifecycle, ensuring the best outcomes for learners and the University.

The role will work across multi-disciplinary teams to gather data and articulate market feasibility, opportunities, and product solutions that meet market demand and needs. Working with internal and external stakeholders, the Product Manager will identify and guide market research responses, identify market opportunities, and articulate industry and customer needs in the form of business cases and product propositions.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Work in collaboration with key stakeholders, both industry contributors and academic subject matter experts, to define market problems, needs and opportunities, market size and characteristics, market share, and to formulate product value propositions for defined audiences
  • Work collaboratively with academic stakeholders to define course content, structure, outcomes and points of difference ensuring success in market
  • Collaborate with marketing and academic programs teams to gather data to review and optimise courses in-market
  • Draw on research and conduct target audience workshops with stakeholders to define customer needs, and course benefits that address those needs
  • About You

    You will have strong stakeholder management skills, both internal and external as well as business development experience and commercial acumen. You will demonstrate the ability to synthesise various data points into an executable plan of action. You will have the ability to use initiative and responsiveness in planning and developing new ideas and approaches to ensure organisational objectives are achieved. You will have a high level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and influence a range of stakeholders across all levels of the organisation and high level organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload, work well under pressure and organise own work to meet deadlines. You will demonstrate the ability to work autonomously with considerable independence.

    Ideally, you will further have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in business, marketing or another related field or progress towards postgraduate qualifications and extensive relevant experience in account service, course development or product marketing; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Experience within the education sector
  • High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to exercise significant judgement
  • Well-established project management skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement
