The Intrax Geotechnical Department is committed to redefining what is possible and blurring the line between probable and improbable. Working with the latest technology in the field and supporting it with sophisticated software solutions back in the office, the Geotechnical team  facilitates a highly precise and reliable service, to our customers .

We are looking for a highly driven Laboratory Technician to join our team on a full-time basis . It is Melbourne based role involving testing of soils as per AS and providing supervision of bulk earthwork projects.

In this exciting and fast paced role your day to day will include

  • Conducting compaction testing in accordance with relevant Australian Standards, laboratory work instructions, test methods, preparation instructions, quality procedures and manuals
  • Preparing samples for laboratory testing
  • Calibrating laboratory equipment as required.
  • Liaising with technical and sales staff in relation to internal/external customer requirements and complaints
  • Maintaining, observing, and taking part in the statutory safety requirements of the Laboratory operation
  • Maintaining the Laboratories equipment according to company and accreditation requirements
  • Assisting in workflow planning, actively seeking to improve processes in the laboratory and office.
  • Adhering to OHS Policy and Procedures
  • Keeping abreast of latest relevant Australian standards
  • Liaising with clients to promote the Intrax presence within regions; and
  • Other duties as may be directed by management.
  • To be successful in this role you will

  • Cert IV Laboratory Techniques
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Level 3 as per NATA CMT document
  • Manual light vehicle licence
  • Nuclear density gauge use licence (preferred)
  • White card or equivalent
  • AS testing experience
  • Working knowledge of the requirements of ISO –
  • Knowledge of Australian and Industry standards
  • Proficient computer skills (particularly Microsoft Office)
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • An ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Experience in Level 1 Supervision & Testing (desirable)
