About the role

This key role is responsible for proactively designing, implementing, and supporting Evolution Mining’s Data & Analytics environment to drive value and deliver improved results across the organisation.

This includes the responsibility for planning and implementing Evolution’s future state Data Analytics services, leadership of a team of Data Analysts, identification, design and implementation of service improvement initiatives, and partnership with the business to deliver excellent customer service and improved business outcomes to support our high performing group office and site teams in mining Gold and Copper in a safe, profitable manner.

The role will lead a small, dynamic team whose core focus is to support and deliver Evolution’s data integrity and usage.

We are seeking a business leader who can respond to the immediate requirements of the organisation whilst also strategically mapping out the future of Evolution’s data usage and uptake in line with key business objectives.

Some of the key result areas for this role include:

  • Build productive relationships with internal and stakeholders to understand data and analytic requirements and to establish medium term (1 to 3 year) plans that are aligned with the IT strategic plan and wider business plans to lead to improved operational outcomes.
  • Provide leadership for the team to achieve business objectives, communicating with impact and clarity to engage and energise the team, providing clear context and purpose to team members and check understanding.
  • Generate thought leadership across the organisation to educate and influence business leaders on the opportunities for data enabled business improvement.
  • Lead the planning, design, development, and deployment of value-adding, cost effective and innovative data solutions, developing appropriate business cases and garnering organisation support for implementation.
  • Monitor and report on project, team and budget performance against defined objectives and outcomes, proactively managing change processes to ensure appropriate information, procedures and fail safes for major changes are implemented, including consideration of organisational impacts as well as the implications for IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Demonstrate and live behaviours aligned with the Evolution Mining values (Safety, Accountability, Excellence, Respect) and commit to maintaining health, safety and security standards and principles, both within own workplace and through the identification of potential risks throughout Evolution.
  • About you

    Reporting to the General Manager Information Technology, to succeed in this role you will have proven relevant experience leading a Data function preferably within a mining, engineering, manufacturing, logistics or process environment.

    You will demonstrate the ability to take initiative, think strategically, address challenges and demonstrate a methodical, outcome focused approach working closely and collaboratively with all parts of a business.

    It is important that you have or can demonstrate:

  • A detailed understanding of overseeing the design, development, and implementation of one or more of big data, machine learning, AI, and analytics solutions and leading the associated team.
  • Advanced understanding of data technologies and applications including Big Data, Data Lakes and Machine Learning and knowledge of the Microsoft Analytics Platform.
  • Strong inter-personal skills, facilitating positive relationships, and the ability to present and communicate information at levels appropriate to audience, leading and coaching your team to achieve successful outcomes, solid communication skills, both written and verbal and be able to manage your energy and priorities.
  • A structured approach to working that is also able to pivot to key immediate issues with diligence, ability to quickly build a rapport to form working relationships, lateral thought, and openness to new approaches.
