Chifley College is a multi-campus college established in 2000 to enhance the educational opportunities for students in the Mount Druitt area. Mount Druitt campus has an enrolment of 624 students, including 21% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as well as 52% Pacific Islander students. The campus is committed to the Premier’s Priorities to Lifting Education Standards through literacy, numeracy, differentiation and explicit teaching. The school received significant funding to support student learning outcomes through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM) including equity loading for Aboriginal background, English language proficiency, low level adjustment for disability and socio-economic background. Added to this, our flexible well being funds, beginning teaching funds and professional learning funds ensure that the school is well resourced, caters to the individual needs of staff and students and addresses the various aspects of education in our school. The school is committed to continually improving effective classroom practices with staff professional learning being the key to ensuring this outcome. This learning will ensure that both literacy and numeracy levels can be enhanced through excellent teaching, improved data analysis and used to support individualised and differentiated learning. Strong partnerships are evident with parent forums, the Local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG), local Aboriginal Elders, partner primary schools.

Specific Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  • Proven ability to manage daily organisation, management of casual staff and administrative duties across the whole school.
  • Demonstrated experience in understanding, implementing and overseeing the use of online administration and student management systems.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with the executive team to lead, manage and implement whole school processes and initiatives that addresses whole school priorities.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively and professionally in context with all members of staff and the broader school community. 
  • General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department’s Aboriginal education policiesConditions
