What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leader – Strategy & Performance Office (SPO).  SPO is responsible for setting strategic priorities and direction for the AFP, identifying and driving performance improvement.
 

 Vacancies exist in a number of teams, including:

  • Budget Policy
  • Business Planning

 

As a Team Leader you also play a pivotal role in developing people, managing change and influencing behaviours that lead to a supportive culture that respects the perspectives, talents and value of each individual. Consistent with the AFP values, AFP leadership philosophy, organisational reform agendas, AFP corporate business plans and your Performance Development Agreement, the expectation is that you will deliver on the core responsibilities and meet any requirements of the position as outlined below.

What will you do?

These roles are responsible for the delivery of enterprise wide strategy, policy, and providing strategic advice to the AFP executive to inform decision making. As a Team Leader, you will support the team to: 
 

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Prepare strategic advice to AFP Executive that is cognisant of operational drivers and the broader operating environment of the AFP and the government of the day; 
  • Communicate effectively, including the ability to distil key issues, and negotiate innovative and practical solutions to complex problems; 
  • Enhance their own capability and promote better organisational understanding of government processes, the AFP’s strategic approach to matters; and 
  • Drive and manage change across the organisation, including in relation to processes, systems and culture.

Essential Requirements

 

  • You must be an Australian Citizen 
  • Current NV1 (secret) security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team to provide strategic policy advice or to coordinate implementation of an internal reform agenda.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, model and enable a positive and inclusive culture; support the professional development of yourself and team members; and foster continuous improvement of team and broader organisational practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a fast paced and dynamic environment, leveraging superior prioritisation skills and modelling enthusiasm and resilience in responding to uncertainty and change.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication and collaboration skills in an environment that has multiple internal and external stakeholders
