Job Description

The role

will be based in Parramatta.

 

Reporting to Manager Geotech Scientist (Investigation & Monitoring), the role would typically include tasks such as:

 

  • Designing, supervising and undertaking geotechnical investigations, analyses and interpretation of investigation data, and providing advice with respect to the geotechnical, earthworks and material aspects of infrastructure design, construction and maintenance in order to support the development and delivery of infrastructure projects.
  • Delivery of effective technical services to clients by participation in multi-function teams, providing strategic technical advice, technical oversight of internal and external laboratory services and by providing and managing specialist services
  • Management of TfNSW geotechnical, earthworks and materials risk by developing and/or adopting appropriate standards, testing and improving practices, briefing and managing advice from internal and external experts, applying policies, guidelines and specifications, managing the use of natural materials and imported fills, reducing the risk of premature geotechnical or pavement failures.

About you

 

You will have completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in geology, or other related earth science or engineering disciplines.

 

You have demonstrated knowledge/experience of the principles and application of geotechnical information in relation to road design and construction and also have the capability to plan, conduct and lead a geotechnical investigation both in the office and in variable terrain, access and weather conditions in the field, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team in a commercial environment.

 

You will be a self-starter, and an autonomous operator and have sound knowledge and understanding of WHS and environmental requirements for geotechnical fieldwork and site supervision.

 

You have proven industry experience in managing geotechnical site investigations for infrastructure projects including foundation treatment projects, preparing geotechnical factual and design report and reviews and provision of earthworks specialist advice and the management of technical risk in infrastructure projects

 

 

Essential Requirements

 

  • A bachelor’s degree in geology from an Australian university, or equivalent overseas qualifications with demonstrated geoscience experience
  • Possess a valid Australian motor vehicle driver’s license and be willing to work outside regular working hours and travel on occasion

 

 

 

Salary and Benefits

 

The salary for this position is USS 9-10 ($119,898 – $144,415) per annum, depending on level of experience, plus superannuation and leave loading.
