Job Description

Under the direction of the Lead Baker, the Baker is responsible for preparing and decorating/garnishing baked goods to comply with the menu for all university operations. The position is accountable for following set procedures, instructions and standardized recipes to bake, package and display goods. The Baker is also responsible for following safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen workplace in preparing food and maintaining kitchen equipment.

  • Bakes menu items using standardized recipes in a timely and efficient manner that minimizes waste and insures quality and customer satisfaction
  • Artfully decorates baked goods to achieve a high level of customer satisfaction and perceived value
  • Sets up and maintains food presentation and self-service bars by producing the appropriate amount of goods to keep self-service bars stocked
  • Cleans and inspects equipment, appliances, and work areas to ensure cleanliness and functional operations
  • Compiles and maintains production records
  • Performs other duties within Dining or the University as assigned
  • Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred. Extensive experience may substitute for education.
  • Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
