SWSLHD provides specialist mental health assessment, intervention and treatment to consumers with a range of mental health issues who face an array of social challenges.

 Employment with the mental health casual pool gives you the opportunity to work across Inpatient Mental Health Services including Liverpool, Bankstown and Campbelltown Hospital. This is a great and exciting opportunity to gain experience whilst completing your nursing degree!

What You’ll be Doing
The Assistant In Nursing will assist the registered nurse and enrolled nurse with the planning, provision and documentation of patient care, working within the framework of the policies of SWSLHD, the Ministry of Health and the NSW legislative and statutory requirements.

  • Current enrollment in and successful completion of at least 2 semesters of a Bachelor of Nursing with a satisfactory academic record and completion of at least 2 clinical placements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under supervision and provide safe compassionate quality care that is culturally responsive
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and personally resolve conflicts when they arise
  • Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of evidenced based nursing care
  • Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace
  • A thorough understanding of scope of practice and demonstrated ability to work within scope boundaries.
