We work in partnership with Defence and the Government to provide technical solutions in support of Defence Capability Requirements. CEA Technologies has facilities distributed across Australia and in the United States to support our Research and Development and Capability Sustainment.

The Position

The Technical Writer will develop and write customer facing technical publications and product documentation for specialist operational and technical audiences.

The Person

Our ideal candidate will have the ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, concise and everyday language that customers can understand. You will have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), high attention to detail and the ability to speak, present and write fluently in English including accurate spelling and grammar.

Your duties will include but is not limited to:

  • Liaising with key internal stakeholders including engineers and mtradespersons to identify and analyse documentation needs.
  • Identifying audiences for documentation content and anticipating the questions, problems and needs that the content should address.
  • Identifying, writing and editing technical and non-technical content for customer-friendly product documentation in a timely manner.
  • Review & evaluation of documents to ensure fit for purpose.
  • Working within the engineering team, you will collaborate closely with engineers and technicians to ensure documentation is comprehensive and accurate, and meets the clients’ requirements.

Essential

  • Ability to hold and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) clearance – Negative Vetting 1
  • Engineering and/or Tradesperson qualifications (mechanical, electrical, mechatronics)
  • Having a technical background or working within a Defence or technical organisation.
  • Ability to translate complex and technical information into clear, concise and everyday language that customers can understand.
  • Ability to speak, present and write fluently in English
  • Demonstrated high attention to detail including spelling and grammar.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Desirable

  • Experience developing documents to DEF (Aust) 5629B and/or S1000D standards.
  • Experience creating graphics and diagrams that facilitate a technical understanding with stakeholders and clients.
  • Knowledge and/or exposure to Solidworks or CATIA Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
  • XML knowledge and experience.

Eligibility

To be eligible for this position, you must be:

  • An Australian Citizen; and
  • Eligible for an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance (AGSVA) and the successful candidate MUST be able to obtain clearance prior to commencement.
