TheDepartment for Trade and Investment (DTI) helps industry ecosystemsand businesses identify and capitalise upon opportunities for jobcreation and economic growth. DTI supportsbusinesses to connect with overseas markets, create stronginternational relationships and capitalise on export opportunities,while at the same time, strengthening the South Australian economythrough investment and creation of jobs.

TheRole:

The Principal Events Officer is responsible forproviding support on the successful development and implementationof strategic projects across the Department.

Encompassingall facets of event management including planning, briefing,operational coordination, promotion and communications, eventexecution, sponsorships and stakeholder engagement. The role willhave a strategic external engagement focus and support theleveraging of all group activities for the benefit of theDepartment.

This is ahighly collaborative role, working closely with governmentagencies, non-government bodies and industry on projects whichcontribute to the achievement of the Department and more broadly ongovernment policy objectives and outcomes.

You will be joining us during our busy events season,where your outstanding organisational skills and engagingcommunications will shine, including the ability to build andstrengthen positive working relationships with people at all levelsacross the Department and key stakeholders.

You also havethe ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of ateam, including providing broad direction to other staff, includingevent support staff, as well as contributing to the improvement andmaintenance of events and processes to ensure their efficient andeffective operation.

Interestedapplicants must provide their curriculum vitae, and an expressionof interest of no more than two pages, addressing how they meet thefollowing key criteria:

Significantexperience in planning, initiating and managing engagement andcommunications projects, including developing engagement plans,implementing and evaluating major events engagement programs,strategies and events to effectively communicate with and engage arange of audiences.

Developpositive relationships with key stakeholders, other public andprivate sector organisations, suppliers and the business community,including providing authoritative advice on events engagement andcommunications matters.

Communicateclearly, concisely and effectively both verbally and in writingwith people at all levels including proven ability to consult,liaise and influence, plus negotiate and manage conflict with tactand diplomacy.

Exercise ahigh level of judgement, determining goals and priorities whileoperating under broad direction.

DesirableQualifications:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications,marketing and/or project management.

SpecialConditions

Successful applicants may be required to obtain asatisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check orNational Police Check prior to employment. A renewal will berequired every 3 years.

The role isoffered on a term backfill basis until July 2024
