The Star is in an exciting time of renewal and transformation we are seeking a Senior Investigator, reporting directly to the Investigations Manager, to lead investigations into complaints and matters of concerns across The Star Sydney.

The Star is in an exciting time of renewal and transformation we are seeking a Senior Investigator, reporting directly to the Investigations Manager, to lead investigations into complaints and matters of concerns across The Star Sydney.

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage and conduct background and internal investigations of employees and as directed.
  • Carry out or oversee investigations as required of companies and individuals who wish to conduct contractual or other business with The Star
  • Pro-actively liaise with the investigation units of other Hotels/Casinos for intelligence purposes and to keep abreast of any developments within the gaming industry.
  • Mentor, lead and allocate the investigative tasks of the departments Investigations Officer(s) and occasional employees, such as seconded team members.
  • Provide all departments with relevant intelligence, which is applicable to their needs, and assist Surveillance and Security departments with any support they may require.
  • Work with Surveillance and Security teams and as required, reviewing videotapes to resolve all inquiries and disputes from internal and external customers and investigate potential misconduct claims against staff and patrons.
  • Maintain a constant vigilance to identify, record and report activity affecting casino revenue, illegal or undesirable activity and gaming integrity.
  • Liaise and develop networks with Liquor and Gaming NSW, government regulatory and statutory authorities and international, federal and state law enforcement agencies.
  • Oversee Police covert operations on site, supervising and supporting the Surveillance Department where required.
  • Liaise with Internal Audit to assist with the implementation of procedures and policies to determine proper accountability.

About you

  • Extensive experience in law enforcement, compliance, investigation or other similar disciplines
  • Competency with Intelligence databases
  • Ability to conduct investigation and inquiries in the commercial field, including the preparation of reports and submissions with appropriate recommendations.
  • Experience in regulatory work environments
  • Working knowledge of corporate investigation requirements
  • Understanding of laws as they relate to the organisation, in particular, Casino Control Act and regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • Ability to plan, priortise and perform role with minimal supervision.
  • Confidence in building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced communication skills enabling thorough review of written and oral complaints.
