Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) provides care for more than 350,000 people living in the southern metropolitan area of Adelaide as well as providing a number of statewide services, and services to those in regional areas. More than 7,500 skilled staff provide high quality patient care, education, research and health promoting services.

SALHN is overseen by a Governing Board made up of a Chair and six members who are multi-skilled professionals with expertise that spans strategic leadership, finance, health services, management, governance, Aboriginal Health and more. The Board has key responsibilities including governance, strategy, risk and performance oversight.

SALHN provides a range of acute and sub-acute health services for people of all ages.

SALHN includes

  • Noarlunga Hospital
  • GP Plus Health Care Centres and Super Clinics
  • Mental Health Services
  • Sub-acute services, including Repat Health Precinct
  • Jamie Larcombe Centre
  • Aboriginal Family Clinics
  • SALHN has two acute sites:

    Flinders Medical Centre is a 593-bed specialist referral public teaching hospital collocated with the Flinders University School of Medicine and the privately-owned Flinders Private Hospital (FPH). FMC is the major referral centre for acute care and emergency services in the southern region of Adelaide. It is one of two major trauma centres in South Australia, providing an around-the-clock emergency retrieval service to bring people to hospital by road or helicopter. FMC also provides a number of statewide services including the SA Liver Transplant Service and the SA Eye Bank. It provides cardiac surgery services to the South East and to the Northern Territory.

    Noarlunga Hospital is a 108-bed general hospital consisting of an 85-bed public hospital and a 26-bed private hospital and is co-located with a range of primary health care and mental health services. The hospital provides medical and surgical services, a satellite dialysis service, outpatient and Emergency Department (ED) services. Primary Health and Health Transition Services responds to the diverse health needs of the southern metropolitan Adelaide population and delivers a wide range of services in community settings.

    SALHN has a range of primary and secondary prevention services; Aboriginal Health Services and primary and transitional care options, including hospital avoidance and hospital substitution and discharge support. Primary Health and Health Transition Services works closely with other services, such as General Practice Network South (GPNS) and statewide services including SA Dental Service, Domiciliary Care SA, Disability SA, aged care providers, SHINE SA, Drug and Alcohol Services South Australia (DASSA) and local government.

    Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory obtained a satisfactory Background Screening and National Criminal History Clearance.

    The Registration of Interest campaign has been designed to allow qualified Registered Nurses/Midwives and Enrolled Nurses to register their interest to work across Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN), and for SALHN to develop a ‘candidate pool’ to support timely recruitment to vacancies as they become available.
