The Digital Profession aims to lift the digital capability of the Australian Public Service (APS) workforce to transform government services. Its objective is to improve the digital expertise of individuals, organisations, and the APS workforce, to meet digital capability needs to transform government services. The Digital Profession will become the standard of excellence for APS digital professionals, with opportunities for learning and career development. Moving into its next phase, the Digital Profession has an ambitious goal to grow its member base of digital professionals. The Digital Profession hosts several programs, events, and initiatives to engage and uplift capability of Digital Professionals. To continue this work, the Digital Profession Team is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Events and Communities Officer to join the team. As the Events and Communities Officer, you will report to Events Manager and work under general direction from the Communities and Engagement Manager. You will assist in the development and delivery of several events and programs for the Digital Profession and have creative license to influence the planning, co-ordination, and delivery of them.This role will involve extensive internal liaison to ensure a co-ordinated and consistent approach to events and community initiatives is upheld. Hybrid event planning (both virtual and in-person), awards management, speaker management, stakeholder management, the development of content (across web, social and print collateral), event promotion, design and delivery, and post-event evaluation will be key responsibilities in this role. The position involves a combination of administrative and non-administrative tasks, and the ability for the candidate to pivot at pace whilst managing competing priorities and tasks accordingly. The position may also require possible weekend and occasional evening work around key event dates, in line with the duties described in this role. Any work outside standard hours would include prior notice of at least 48 hours and is subject to FLEX as per DTA EA guidelines.Tasks/Responsibilities:As the Events and Communities Officer you will:Assist in the delivery of events and community initiatives alongside the Events Manager and Communities and Engagement Manager.Co-ordinate a suite of virtual online events.Assist in the delivery of the Digital Summit and Australian Government Digital Awards events.Assist in implementing the events and community engagement plan to boost brand awareness.Using a project management approach, support end-to-end delivery of hybrid events and community initiatives as required.Assist in determining and coordinating operational and logistical requirements for events, including virtual delivery, brand management, crowd management, parking etc., and liaison with facility operators and key stakeholders throughout the event. Assist in establishing and nurturing a community of practice for digital professionals.Establish and maintain strong external and internal networks at the DTA and across the APS, to ensure a coordinated, consistent, and integrated approach to event delivery.Liaise with relevant teams within the DTA to assist in the development of content (for web, social, printed material).Ensure timely information and records management, including maintaining event related databases, such as processing and monitoring of event RSVP’s and maintaining up-to-date guest/attendee lists.Develop and collate evaluation reports and undertake post-event activities.Act as a point of contact for the Digital Profession’s events and community initiatives.Other duties as outlined by the Events Manager and the Communities and Engagement Manager.Skills and experience:The successful applicant for this role will have:Proven work experience in events and program coordination/management.Excellent communication skills be self- motivated, strategic, and keen to work collaboratively with staff across the DTA and more widely across the APS. Experience identifying, tracking and managing event and program KPI’s.Experience coordinating marketing and communications campaigns. Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and writing skills.Use agile methodology and contemporary stakeholder engagement approaches. This means delivering at pace, being open to changing approaches and taking an appropriate attitude to risk. Desirable: Digital event production experienceMarketing suite proficiency (marketo, mailchimp)  Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, communications, events, or relevant field (desirable).Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).To be eligible for employment with the Digital Transformation Agency (DTA), applicants must be an Australian citizen. An applicant’s suitability for employment with the DTA will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process.
