An opportunity has presented for a Senior Development Geologist. Reporting to the Manager E&A Western Flank Operations, your role will provide analysis of geological information associated with development projects to maximise the value of our Western Flank Asset in the Cooper Basin. 

You will be responsible for technical studies focusing on future horizontal, deviated, and vertical well placements and drive pre-drill strategic planning, post well lookbacks, and identifying future conceptual development opportunities and technical assessments.

As a highly proficient static modeler (using Petrel), you will guide and recommend development well plans, production forecasts, and reserves calculations associated with WF Oil Fields. You will also have extensive experience using advanced mapping techniques, stratigraphic interpretation, well log analysis, and static, facies and property model building. 

In addition to field development planning, the ideal candidate will have gained broad knowledge across reservoir engineering, production, and completions engineering. This coupled with strong stakeholder engagement, leadership and influencing capability will be essential to support multi-disciplinary conversations and outcomes at Beach.

About the opportunity

• Analysis of geological information associated with development projects and play types to assist business decisions to maximise the value of the asset portfolio.
• Integrating geological evaluations as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure all data is considered when making recommendations.
• Generating and maintaining geological static, facies and property models for development drilling planning and ongoing reservoir evaluation and management. 
• Creating field development and life of asset plans to assess the potential of acreage or to prioritise drilling portfolio candidates.
• Evaluating existing fields to contribute to planning the optimised development of Beach production assets and providing reserves estimates for existing fields to optimise the allocation of budgeted funds.
• Participating in Integrated Field Reviews to ensure ongoing optimal field management activities.
• Preparing well proposals and monitoring the drilling of wells.
• Evaluation of field development plans and drilling opportunities submitted by the Operator for fields where Beach is a non-operating joint venture partner.
• Develop and participate in presentations to peer-review groups and joint venture parties, as required and review drilling results.
• Act as a mentor for junior members of the geoscience team, ensuring that they broaden and develop an appropriate skill set. Lead by example and provide guidance on technical rigour.

What you will need

• Tertiary qualifications in Geology, postgraduate preferred yet not essential
• Extensive and broad knowledge of development geoscience and field development planning
• Well-developed knowledge and understanding of wireline log and LWD interpretation.
• Demonstrated understanding of petroleum economics and reserves calculations.
• Extensive experience in static, facies and property model building on several scales.
• Knowledge of reservoir engineering, production and completions engineering 
• Experience in leading teams and creating workflows/process
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to prioritise work and meet demanding schedules. 
• Proficient in MS Office, Petrel and other industry standard software.

Desirable Selection Criteria

• Previous experience in multiple Australasian sedimentary basins.
• Knowledge of a range of reservoir types, plays and depositional systems.
• Demonstratable knowledge of conventional & unconventional horizontal development techniques
