Job Description

 As one of the largest open range zoos in the world, spanning more than 1,500 hectares of fauna and flora, we’re excited to be transforming from Monarto Zoo into Monarto Safari Park, the largest safari park that will exist outside of Africa. Complete with a first-of-its-kind luxury resort and glamping facilities, by 2022 Monarto Safari Park will offer longer visits and a range of new and wild safari experiences in an area known as Wild Africa including open-sided vehicle tours through herds of roaming animals and a huge walk-through lemur habitat. Not to mention, we’re building a brand-new $16.8 million Visitor Centre, funded by the Federal and State Governments, which will provide a world class entry to the park. ABOUT THE ROLE…Our volunteer workforce, often referred to as our ‘Vollies’, play an integral role in the success of our organisation. We have upwards of 400 active Volunteers and trainee volunteers across both Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Safari Park who support a variety of activities including engaging with visitors as a guide, capturing data for Keepers on animal behavior, creating environmental enrichment treats for animals, supporting education programs, helping to conserve and revegetate our Mallee bushland environment and contributing to the development of Wild Africa. The Volunteer Programs team at Monarto Safari Park currently require a motivated and committed Volunteer Coordinator to join the team. This is a permanent part time role (0.5 FTE until 30/6/21 and the 0.7 FTE ongoing). Our ideal candidate will be people person who is patient, organised, have great time management, and is able to demonstrate a natural ability to build strong working relationships. As part of our Volunteer Programs team, day to day tasks may include:Coordinate, provide support and respond to queries from the Volunteer workforce within the ParkAssist the Manager. Volunteer Programs with the administration, support and delivery of training courses for Volunteers.Assist with ongoing coaching in relation to training and role expectations to increase engagement and improvement in volunteer performanceAssist in coordinating and facilitating volunteer appraisals or training compliance.Liaise between Park staff and the Volunteers of Zoos SA, as required to support various Volunteer Programs and Volunteer workforce needs.Coordinate and action rostering requirements for MSP volunteer programs using a digital rostering platform.Assist with matching interviews for new intakes of volunteer program applicants.Prepare reports and recommendations to present to line manager and management.Work accordance with established WHS procedures to ensure animal security, personal safety, protection of coworkers, volunteers and the general public.Working in line with relevant Policy and Procedures/Standard Operating Procedures ABOUT YOU…To be considered for this position you will need to meet the following selection criteria:Have or be working towards a volunteer training course and/or relevant experience coordinating volunteersCustomer service training (within the Tourism industry would be highly regarded)Highly developed empathy and conflict resolution skillsHigh level of communication and interpersonal skills with peers, staff, volunteers and the public.Knowledge and understanding of Workplace Health & Safety principles and process.Digital skills in applications, such as Microsoft office, cloud-based volunteer management software and social media for engaging with our volunteers, or willingness to learn.Accurate and thorough, with an eye for detail. HOW TO APPLY…Please complete the requested work history & education information on the application page, attach your resume and any certificates in the education section.
