>Uluru NTBeyond the spinifex sand plains of arid central Australia lies Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, one of three national parks leased by their Aboriginal owners to the Director of National Parks, and jointly managed by Traditional Owners and Parks Australia. Parks Australia assists with ongoing management of the park’s natural and cultural heritage. This branch also manages a rich and fascinating range of island ecosystems and habitats, including oceanic Pulu Keeling, Norfolk and Christmas Island National Parks.Reporting to the Manager Parks Operations, the Maintenance section is responsible for essential service provision to the Park and Mutitjulu community as well as the day to day maintenance and repairs of infrastructure.The key duties of the position include:• Coordinating maintenance programs including: o maintenance of the essential services including power, water, sewerage and communications o maintenance of park houses, other infrastructure, vehicles, plant and equipment and undertake emergency repairs • Assisting in the development of annual and operational plans for the delivery of maintenance schedules and programs. • Supervising and providing leadership and direction for the Essential Services Officer and help support and mentor the Indigenous Trainee and Mutitjulu Community Rangers to build skills and capacity. • Coordinating effective record keeping of data and produce and maintain plans and reports related to the maintenance of park assets. • Under limited supervision at the direction of the Manager Parks Operations undertake activities including procurement, contract management and reporting, and Implement the Chief Executive Instructions. • Sharing the Traditional Owner’s vision for the future of the park and participate in the exchange of knowledge, experience and skills between Indigenous and non-Indigenous staff, the community and public and work with Indigenous staff and stakeholders that speak Pitjantjatjara and/or Yankunytjatjara as a first language.All duties will be performed in accordance with the Park’s Lease Agreement, the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act) and Management Plan. EligibilityThe successful applicant must:• hold a current Apply First Aid Certificate or have the ability to obtain this qualification• hold and maintain a current manual driver’s licence and ability to drive a 4WD vehicle• meet physical fitness minimum standards to undertake work within the role including firefighting as needed• note that the physical requirements of the role(s) involve a combination of outdoor and office-based work• note that they may be required to perform occasional out-of-hours and weekend work• wear an official uniform supplied by the department, including during field operations (as applicable), in accordance with the department’s uniform policy• wear appropriate protective personal equipment and clothing to comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.Indigenous job seekers are encouraged to apply for this vacancy.
