Research Officer Full Time (Part Time appointments will be considered)

Initial 6-month contract with a possibility of extension.

Applications are invited for the above position at the Electorate Office of Dr Katrina Stratton MLA, based in Nedlands. In this role, the successful applicant will be required to respond to constituent enquiries, liaise with Government departments and other organisations, prepare and coordinate correspondence including the preparation of speeches, perform administrative tasks and assist in organising functions and meetings. Note, some flexibility in work hours may be required for attendance at events.

Applicants should possess the following skills and experience:

Essential

  • Strong research and analytical skills with an ability to deliver information in a written document.
  • Well-developed organisational skills including the ability to prioritise and schedule work to ensure the completion of tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse social backgrounds (including high net worth individuals)
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to rapid changes and expectations on work routines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise initiative in dealing with difficult situations.
  • Ability to work in a small team environment and contribute to a positive workplace culture
  • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in dealing with complex and difficult situations and matters of confidential nature.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or significant progress towards
  • Desirable

  • Ability to understand the impact and implications of issues and problems which arise in the constituency or parliamentary processes and able to consider the feelings and needs of all parties involved.
  • Knowledge of Government and Parliamentary procedures.
  • Experience in using systems including Campaign Central, Microsoft Office
  • Understanding and use of social media platforms, including Facebook and Instagram
  • The position is offered under the Electorate and Research Employees (CSA) General Agreement 2019. A probationary period of three months will apply.
